Our Journey

Xi Bassile was founded in Maputo, Mozambique, by architect and urban planner Khiusha Uaila, with a mission to reshape urban spaces through green infrastructure and nature-based solutions. Since its inception, the company has focused on addressing the pressing issues of stormwater management and waste reduction in urban areas by introducing its flagship innovation, the Xi Bassile Bioswale. This ecological solution repurposes solid waste to enhance urban drainage and water filtration, improving water quality and mitigating floods. Xi Bassile’s journey has been marked by recognition on global platforms, including being a finalist in the ClimateLaunchpad competition and securing funding through the Africa Blue Wave and Regen Wave initiatives. As they continue to grow, Xi Bassile remains committed to creating resilient and sustainable urban environments in Mozambique and beyond.
